His impressive form has made him a strong contender for the Player of the Season award, having already helped his side secure silverware this term.

Reports of Monaco’s interest surfaced via iDiski Times on 1 April, although it remains unclear whether the claim was genuine or part of an April Fool’s prank.

Could Relebohile Mofokeng move to Monaco?

Former Orlando Pirates winger Lebohang Mokoena has urged Mofokeng to seize the opportunity, should the reports prove to be true.

“I think for the young man, it has been two seasons with offers coming and some declined. I believe he should really jump at this opportunity because the French league is quite a good league,” Mokoena said on Soccer Beat.

“If I was Rele, I would be on that first plane as soon as the season ends—I’d be in France.”

However, Mokoena did point out an area of concern, highlighting Relebohile Mofokeng’s physicality as a potential challenge in Ligue 1.

“There is also one aspect that Rele has to work on. We saw in the recent friendly games against Panama—his physical attributes, especially in the number 10 role. It’s something Monaco can help improve because the league is very physical, and the players in France are strong,” he added.

Despite that, Mokoena believes Mofokeng’s technical ability and playing style would suit Monaco perfectly.

“He will fit in like a glove at Monaco, they play beautiful football.”

Relebohile Mofokeng still has eight matches remaining this season with Pirates to further boost his value and strengthen his case for the Player of the Season accolade.

With the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, a strong finish to the campaign could see him attract interest from even bigger clubs.
