Cops seeking wrong-way driver in Brantford; charges laid in Cambridge stabbing

The OPP’s West Region is trying to track down a wrong-way driver after “a very scary incident” on a major highway was caught on dashcam footage last week in Brantford.

Police released footage on social media that shows a red pickup truck going westbound on the right-hand eastbound lane of Hwy. 403 Thursday at about 5:20 p.m. between Wayne Gretzky Pkwy. and Garden Ave.

“Thanks to quick reactions from nearby drivers, no injuries or collisions were reported,” the OPP said, urging anyone with information on the vehicle or additional dashcam footage to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

MAN CHARGED AFTER STABBING IN CAMBRIDGE

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 36-year-old man after a stabbing earlier this month in Cambridge.

Police said the charges are related to a stabbing call on March 18 at about 9:45 p.m. at a residence in the Concession and Christopher Sts. area.

They said a 25-year-old man was found with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an out-of-region hospital for treatment.

Police arrested an unnamed man on March 20 and charged him with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, assault causing bodily harm, robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation.

KNIFE-WIELDING MAN ACCUSED OF MAKING THREATS

A 30-year-old Waterloo man is accused of threatening another individual as well as officers during a dispute near Wilfrid Laurier University.

Waterloo Regional Police said they responded to an incident on Saturday at about 2:50 p.m. in the University Ave. E.-Marshall St. area and tried to speak to a man allegedly involved in the dispute.

Police said he allegedly brandished a knife and threatened officers and another person before being safely taken into custody without incident a few hours later by the emergency response team.

The man, who was not identified by police, was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
