As noted by Keegan Matheson of MLB.com, Yesavage is throwing again at Jays camp. It might seem like a small milestone, but it's an important one for the organization's top prospect and a key part of the starting rotation.
However, there are really two things to pay attention here for Jays fans and management: How did he feel while throwing? And how does he respond after?

At this point it’s a matter of building up his workload, but also getting his stuff all the way back after he’s dealt with a shoulder impingement.
A first-round pick of the Blue Jays in 2024, Yesavage shot through the minors in 2025, appearing in the big leagues in September and October. The 22-year-old went 1-0 in three starts down the stretch and then won games in the American League Division Series, American League Championship Series and World Series. His performance in Game 6 of the ALCS saved Toronto's season and his 12-strikeout win in Game 5 of the World Series was lights out as well.
Because of his late debut in 2025, he is still ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the organization.
How long might he be out? There's been no formal announcement of his timeline, but given that he hasn't even appeared in a spring training game, you can expect the Jays to be generous with his ramp-up time. After throwing nearly 140 innings last season, which was well above his collegiate high of 93.0, the team was expected to limit him in some capacity anyways this season. This injury seemingly allows that to happen at the front end.

In addition to him, Shane Bieber is getting a late start to the season because of "forearm fatigue." Jose Berrios is destined to miss time because of a stress fracture in his right elbow, and Bowden Francis is out for the season with Tommy John surgery.
This is going to force Eric Lauer into the starting rotation after he was expected to be a long relief option.
About the early season rotationThe Blue Jays have set the five-man rotation for the start of the season.
They'll open up on Friday night against the Athletics with Kevin Gausman on the mound. Then, Dylan Cease and Eric Lauer will finish out the series. In the first two games against the Rockies, it will be Cody Ponce and Max Scherzer.
