When it was over, all three judges had it 29-28 for Robertson, who has now won five fights in a row in the strawweight division.

“A little bit of a rough start but the next two rounds …I took over,” Robertson said after the win. “That’s five wins in a row … all I need is that belt to solidify myself.”

Lemos opened the fight with some nasty front kicks, digging to Robertson’s body as she set the tone early with her striking. Robertson was trying to close the distance with Lemos still chipping away at her including some stiff leg kicks.

Robertson finally secured her first takedown midway through the opening round but Lemos scrambled while also throwing some hard elbows as she reversed positions. Lemos looked for a kimura but Robertson was able to break free before the strawweights worked back to the feet again.

At the start of the second, Robertson timed a slick takedown as she immediately begin working to improve her position. Robertson was constantly searching for an opening to find a submission but Lemos was staying out of trouble, although still stuck on her back for the majority of the round.

Lemos did manage a late scramble and takedown of her own before unloading a few stiff punches before the horn sounded.

With five minutes remaining, Robertson was once again pressuring, looking for the takedown and Lemos kept allowing herself to get pushed back to the cage wall. Lemos did manage to grab onto an armbar but Robertson defended effectively before slipping free and then landing on top to maintain her control.

As time was ticking away, Robertson started launching some elbows and punches to ensure she was going to leave with her hand raised.

Since moving to 115 pounds, Robertson has gone 6-1 overall and she continues a slow and steady climb up the rankings with hopes that a title fight opportunity could happen sooner than later. As for Lemos, she’s gone 2-4 in her past six fights and she’s not dropped back-to-back decisions to Robertson and Tatiana Suarez.
