Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is ramping up all efforts to stage the upcoming Freedom Fights 250 card on the White House lawn this June, but is it the right time to host such an event?

The anticipated UFC White House card has been in planning for well over six months and is gearing up to be one of the biggest combat sporting events of all-time. Fight fans may not believe the recently-announced fight card is as stacked as it could be, but the event as a whole will be a once-in-a-lifetime party, especially with free tickets for over 85,000 fight fans.

All of the hoopla and theatrics aside, now may not be the best time to host UFC fights on the White House lawn. That’s because the U.S. is currently wrapped up in a war in Iran and some might see the event as a bad look for President of the United States, Donald Trump, and UFC as a whole. Not to mention a heightened-security risk for all those in attendance, including the laundry list of “dignitaries from around the world” that are planning to show up in celebration for Trump’s birthday.

UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan, recently discussed this on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast and shed some light on the potential drawbacks for the event. Check it out below and let us know your thoughts!

“It’s going to be very high security, and high stress, and weird to have a fight at the White House in the middle of a f—king war,” said Rogan.

“I would hope the war would be sorted out by June, but quite honestly I’m not confident that’s gonna be the case.

“That’ll be weird, having this very high profile event where everybody’s in one place at one time.

“Seems like you’re asking for it.”
