‘Best team in the world’ — Atalanta coach accepts heavy Bayern Munich defeat
· Yahoo Sports
Getting smacked 6-1 is no way to start on a Champions League knockouts round journey. But such was the fate of Atalanta Bergamo, who welcomed Bayern Munich to Italy on Tuesday and treated their guests to a feast.
Except it was mostly Bayern that was feasting — six goals en route to a surely insurmountable 6-1 first leg advantage, with the second leg to be played next week…in Munich.

“We’re annoyed, this isn’t what we wanted,” Atalanta coach Raffaele Palladino shared in post-match comments captured by FCBayern.com. “We played against perhaps the best team in the world. Congratulations to them and their coach, they impressed me. We have to accept the result. We’re sorry to the fans.”
