Burger King has just upped the ante in its burger war with McDonald’s, with the Whopper maker joining in on the social media roasting of the Golden Arches’ exec’s viral sandwich tasting video.

Last month, McD’s CEO and chairman Chris Kempczinski posted a video on Instagram in which he awkwardly showed off the fast-food chain’s limited edition Big Arch burger.

The video had many poking fun at Kempczinski for appearing to take a cautious nibble of the new menu item, despite enthusiastically boasting about the burger’s hefty size and ingredients.

Among critics of the video was one who wrote, “What’s the opposite of genuine and authentic?”

While another joked, “He acts like he’s never seen a burger before. Impressed by sesame seeds.”

Others noted that he called the burger a “delicious product.”

BK chimes in

Days after the video went viral , Burger King posted a video on TikTok of its president, Tom Curtis, taking a massive bite of a Whopper with the caption “thought we’d replay this.”

As Curtis chewed on the burger, a voice asked, “Not bad, right?”

He responded with, “Only one thing missing — a napkin,” before laughing.

Both McDonald’s and Burger King’s videos come at a time when the fast-food rivals have tweaked their menus in an effort to attract budget-conscious consumers.

McDonald’s Big Arch burger, which launched Tuesday, features two quarter-pound patties, three slices of white processed cheese, crispy onions, slivered onions, pickles, lettuce, and “Big Arch sauce” all on a sesame seed and poppyseed bun.

Last week, Burger King said in a press release that it was revamping its signature Whopper with a “more premium, better-tasting bun,” and a “better-tasting mayo,” served in a box instead of a paper wrapper.

The update was the first time in a decade that BK has made any changes to its signature item.
