Trio charged in King Township home invasion where good Samaritan shot

York Regional Police have charged three men in connection with a 2024 armed home invasion in King Township.
Cops say on Nov. 4, around 6:23 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the area of Paradise Valley Trail and Fairmont Ridge Trail – near Hwy. 27 and King Rd. in Nobleton .

A 39-year-old man was located at the scene and taken to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was later learned a residence was broken into by two armed males and a good Samaritan who came to assist the homeowners was confronted by the bandits who shot him before fleeing.

On Feb. 26, 2026, following a lengthy investigation, search warrants were executed at residences in Grimsby, Toronto and Oshawa.
As a result, investigators with the Hold-Up Unit, assisted by the York Regional Police Emergency Response and Canine Units, as well as the Niagara Regional Police Emergency Task Unit, arrested three male suspects.
Investigators have released photos of the accused out of concern they may be responsible for other similar incidents.
Clayton McFarlane, 44, of Oshawa, is charged with attempt to commit murder, robbery with a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, theft under $5,000, possession of firearm contrary to order, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments.
Darnyl Campbell, 33, of the Grimsby, is charged with attempt to commit murder, robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Andrew Dove, 39, of Toronto, is charged with failing to comply with a release order.
