Oregon Ducks freshman phenom Nasir Wyatt announces number change

· Yahoo Sports

There were a handful of true freshmen who made an outsized impact with the Oregon Ducks in the 2025 season. Whether it was the duo of Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill Jr. in the backfield, Dakorien Moore out wide, or Brandon Finney Jr. in the secondary, the Ducks were young and talented last year.

Among the most explosive freshman contributors was edge rusher Nasir Wyatt, who didn't play a ton of snaps but made the absolute most of his opportunities when on the field. In all, Wyatt only played 39 defensive snaps last year, but he racked up 11 tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, and seven QB pressures during that time.

Talk about efficiency.

Now, as Wyatt looks to take on a much bigger role in his sophomore season, he has announced that a number change is in order. Going into the 2026 season, Wyatt will be switching from No. 32 to No. 31, taking the number that former Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman wore last year.

No. 31 is what Wyatt wore as a high schooler at Mater Dei, where he was the No. 192 player in the 2025 class.
