Last season, the Toronto Blue Jays made it to their third overall World Series appearance in franchise history and their first since 1993. Still, they lost heartbreakingly in a Game 7 in their ballpark to the now back-to-back reigning champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
What made the loss more disappointing is the fact that Toronto held the lead in the win-or-go-home game for the majority of it before falling short in extra innings.
Aside from that, the Blue Jays had one of their best seasons in the organization's history, and with the message manager John Schneider gave his team heading into the upcoming 2026 season, this group may be more focused than ever, wanting that World Series more than ever.

"We're not defending the AL East. We're not defending the American League. We're attacking 2026 like we did in '25, or any other year. When you're trying to win the division, you're trying to win the World Series," Schneider stated.
In other words, the Blue Jays are not coming into the season in defensive mode; they are going to go out there and take what they believe is theirs, which is ultimately a World Series.
Of course, it'll take more than a speech in February for a team to show World Series potential. Nonetheless, given how Toronto has constructed its team this offseason, even after losing All-Star Bo Bichette, it's hard to believe the Blue Jays won't be right back in the mix for a title.
The Blue Jays will open their pre-season on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies and will play their first regular-season game against the Oakland Athletics on March 26.
